Course overview

Artificial Intelligence is now embedded in core business processes — and with it, risk, accountability, and regulatory exposure have moved to the boardroom. Organisations are expected not only to innovate with AI, but to govern it transparently, responsibly, and in full alignment with the EU AI Act and related frameworks.

The Certified AI Officer (CAIO) programme is a 4-day executive training designed to prepare senior leaders to take formal ownership of AI governance, risk oversight, and executive decision-making.

This is not a technical AI course. It is a governance, strategy, and control programme for those who approve, oversee, or intervene in AI systems.

Course objective

AI is now embedded in business operations and decision-making, while the EU AI Act makes AI governance, compliance, and accountability an executive responsibility. Organisations using AI without structured controls face regulatory risk, non-compliance, and audit exposure.

The Certified AI Officer (CAIO) course equips leaders with practical skills in AI governance frameworks, AI risk management, EU AI Act compliance, high-risk AI oversight, audit-ready documentation, and board-level AI decision-making.

This course matters because it enables responsible, compliant, and trustworthy AI deployment across the organisation.

What you will learn

Participants gain the capability to govern artificial intelligence at executive and board level in line with regulatory, ethical, and organisational requirements.

  • Understand AI governance as a board-level responsibility rather than an IT function
  • Design and implement enterprise AI governance frameworks aligned with business strategy
  • Identify, classify, and manage AI risks, including high-risk AI systems
  • Translate EU AI Act requirements into practical policies, controls, and governance processes
  • Conduct AI risk and impact assessments covering legal, ethical, and organisational impact
  • Enable executive decision-making for approving, restricting, or suspending AI systems
  • Establish audit-ready AI governance, documentation, and accountability structures
  • Ensure compliant, transparent, and trustworthy AI deployment across the organisation

Outcome

Participants gain the capability to govern AI at executive and board level, ensuring EU AI Act compliance, AI risk control, and audit-ready AI governance. Graduates are able to approve, restrict, or suspend AI systems, implement enterprise AI governance frameworks, manage high-risk AI use cases, and demonstrate accountable, transparent, and responsible AI oversight across the organisation.
